30 Day Manga Challenge Day 6
I never really thought about this seriously until now.
Day 06 – Your favorite character?
I thought about it and thought about it some more. Do I actually have a favorite manga character? Then a character sprung to mind! Who? Fujioka Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club. In away way, she was a very refreshing leading lady. In fact, we have our boys constantly complaining how Haruhi is NOT your typical manga heroine. She’s not ditzy or stupid, nor does she need a knight in shining armor to save her. She doesn’t even think about asking for help and unlike other poor heroines, she is not easily bullied. She’s got a smart mouth at times and can easily cut the spastic Tamaki down to size. I guess one thing you can say that makes her typical is her naivety and her ignorance of her own feelings.
Here is a character who defies typical tropes! I found that refreshing and really enjoyed her dynamic with the boys.

This is a hard question. Haruhi is a good pick. She doesn’t care what other people think, she just does her own thing. I really like Yoh, from Koukou Debut. He’s just so normal, lol. The whole time I was reading it, I just kept thinking “geez he’s realistic”. Well, as realistic as a manga character will ever be, anyway.
I also think Haruhi is a great character. She is not stereotyped into any of the typical shoujo roles. And I love how she’s unimpressed by the sparkly handsomeness of the host club when all the other girls are going crazy over it. Haha!
