B1A4 – “Baby I’m Sorry” MV
I have liked B1A4 since their debut last year [although I will admit that it took a while for me to get into them as their first live performance wasn’t the greatest]. Now, this song isn’t a bad song music-wise, but when it comes to the lyrics… It is definitely lacking. I am not talking about the confusing and bad English. That’s bad enough, but tie in the Korean lyrics with the lacking English lyrics and this song takes a serious hit in comprehensibility.
It sounds almost like AA’s “Because I’m Crazy” in which they broke up by mistake and regret it. But then you have the parts where the lyrics say they just want to be alone and then they complain that the girl isn’t there. Why can’t they forget her? Why do they always think of her? And then it sounds like they miss this girl and want her back.
Then for the chorus. Oh the chorus and the horrible English that makes no sense. Seriously. “Baby I’m sorry. We got the better.” While I can usually figure out what the bad English is implying in most songs [if the English has any meaning at all and isn’t just randomly thrown in], I am still having a hard time trying to figure out just what they are trying to say.
And what is up with the end of the song with them saying they can finally forget the girl as they are at a dance party and living it up? What the what? It’s a great dance song and really showcases Baro’s rapping talent, but I do like to look at lyrics and meaning and I just don’t get it. This song would be better if it made more logical sense.
The video didn’t help with the confusion either necessarily. You have these boys regretting and looking all pained because the girl is gone and they can’t forget her and want her back. We then get snapshots of them with the girl and see the good times they had… [or is it a different girl they’re trying to have fun with while still remembering the other girl?].
And speaking of the video… Why were Sandeul and Gongchan kept in the background? CNU, Jinyoung, and Baro get long solos and lots of camera time while Sandeul and Gongchan faded into the background [even with Gongchan’s shocking white hair style]. Sandeul is the main vocalist usually in charge of the chorus which nets him camera time [Gongchan never really gets a lot], so it was odd how you really didn’t get to see those two. Their are 5 members, why just focus on three?
Anwho, enjoy the boys’ comeback. I do hope their follow-up makes more sense than this one did.

Yeah, this was pretty much my reaction to this song and video. I am a fully fledged BANA, I really love those boys, and i actually do like this song for the most part, but the lyrics! Jinyoung wrote, composed & produced this song, and they really do seem to have just left him alone with it. Why wasn’t anyone stepping in and saying “you know what? Why don’t we just tweak things a bit to make it make sense, yeah?”
Oh, and “Baby in a city light in in in a city love light”… what? lol.
I would have liked to see Gongchan more. Why even bother giving him that hair if we’re hardly going to see it?
I have to say though, I have been singing “Baby i’m sorry, we got the better” all day. It might make no sense but it’s catchy, lol.
I actually hoped Eat Your Kimchi would get to review this video, they’d have a field day with it! But i think EXO’s History probably won the poll. How are there more Exotics than Bana when they haven’t even debuted yet!? Ah, anyway, that’s a different topic entirely.
I know! Eat Your Kimchi and this song… would be epic! I suppose with all the hype behind EXO, but really, how can their be more already…tis a mystery.
I didn’t know that Jinyoung did it all himself. Well, he did make it catchy and I find myself singing the same exact line, too! I try to do the next one, but don’t know the Korean phrase yet before the “love together” part. Catchy, oh, but if only the song actually made sense…
That hair is shocking and suits Gongchan…so why hardly any closeups? Why? It’s actually shocking Sandeul didn’t get as many either. This was really heavy Jinyoung and Baro MV with CNU coming in a close 2nd (3rd?). Though, Jinyoung always seems to get a lot of MV screen time…it’s a leader conspiracy 😛
Well, GD always gets more screen time than the others in Big Bang MV’s. Well, in the most recent ones at least. So i totally think there’s a leader conspiracy, ha ha.
