Brian Releases Let This Die MV
Um, wow. Loving this song so far. I do have to say that, I totally agree with Simon from Eat Your Kimchi. When he and Martina reviewed B.A.P’s “Warrior” music video, he stated about a problem with awkward rap usually thrown into kpop songs. Now, Tiger JK’s rapping is far from awkward, but damn it doesn’t fit the song at all. It goes from a sorrowful ballad to a sudden reggae undertone that, to me at least, does not work within the song well at all.
As for the actual video…at first watch, confusing central! What the heck is going on? We see Brian and his girlfriend and then next thing you know there is some other guy with Brian’s girl and the other guy isn’t all that nice to her. Then, bang, we’re in an asylum and Brian is in a straightjacket. We then see clips where the abusive boyfriend becomes Brian. This person on YouTube explained it and then I got it. Poor Brian is crazy and believed it was someone else who was hurting the woman he loves, when it turned out it was him the entire time. Wowza! Once you understand that, the video makes perfect sense.
I really like how Brian’s songs and videos of late are exploring interesting dichotomies. In “Love is Over Now” [too lazy to look up the correct title right now], we had Brian showing us the dual nature of being a celebrating and how it becomes hard to take off that mask which has become a part of you. It’s pretty interesting and I enjoy Brian’s voice and acting ability in these MVs and songs.
Support the awesomeness that is Brian and buy his new mini-album ReBorn Part 1. One of the great things about this album [besides the song below] is that Brian includes the acoustic version of “Domino”! How exciting!
