IU Releases “You & I” MV

I like IU for the most part, but the MV movie part in with IU’s singing and dancing do not match at all with her latest release. It’s a rather serious music video with IU building a time machine. Whether or not this is to change the past or just to go back to before her boyfriend is sick is kind of up in the air, but still, she is building a time machine because of him. Since he is isn’t responding for whatever reason and she is trying so hard to go back, it is rather sad. But in between this we have the cutesy expressions and dancing. It just doesn’t mix at all. Truthfully, the upbeatness of the song seems to not match with the sadder storyline of the video either.

Props to the clock hand motions and dancing, though. It really did resemble a clock. That was cool. Now I wish I knew what the lyrics were with the song. My Korean is only good enough to pick up snippets and that is not enough to understand the song and if it is indeed related to the movie part of the video. I find it interesting that several groups now are doing these rather long movie MVs. Which, I must say I do prefer an MV that shows a story versus just close ups of the group singing and dancing.

What Do you think? Do the song and MV match well?
