How tragic. Over a thousand confirmed dead in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami. Thankfully, it looks like the people I know who are currently living in Japan are all right. Including my ex-stepsister who is in Yokohama. It’s a relief. I am really glad that my father and his wife and kids are no longer living there and are safely stateside. I am also happy that my best friend who studied in Japan is safely in Vermont pursuing her doctorate.

My heart and prayers go out to everyone there.

The US west coast had a little trouble, but nothing like overseas. Again, something to be thankful for as I have family in California and Oregon.

It’s scary to think that the quake registered almost a 9 on the Richter Scale. In worst case scenarios, 10 is the absolute worse and that one wasn’t too far away from it.
