Coming Soon to Netflix: November 2018 Part 1
Did you all have a good weekend? Watch any of the new Thai dramas that hit Netflix last week? Not yet? I highly recommend the Project S Series! Anywho, here is the latest announcements of Asian dramas and movies scheduled to hit Netflix this November and a few movies that were added over the course of last week.
Prabhu Deva, Varun Dhawan, and Shraddah Kapoor star in ABCD 2 where a dance troupe seeks to redeem themselves by entering a world hip hop championship after getting accused of cheating on a reality show. In Do Dooni Chaar, a struggling math teacher becomes determined to attend a wedding despite having a second job to keep his family afloat. Speaking of math teachers, Siddhant follows a principled math teacher who is shocked to discover his grandson used unethical means for his academic success.
Imran Khan, Kangana Ranaut, and Abhishek Saha star in Katti Batti. Two people fall in love in college and have five wonderful years together, but then the girl suddenly leaves and the man is left trying to unravel the mystery. Vikram Prabhu, Sathyaraj, and Monal Gajjar star in Sigaram Thodu. A man reluctant to join the police force has no other choice when his father is brutally attacked. After joining, he is caught up in a the middle of a robbery case.
My Brother…Nikhil follows a community as it turns against a swimming champion after he is diagnosed as being HIV-positive. The only ones who stand by his side are his boyfriend and sister. The movie stars Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Suri, and Victor Banerjee. A small-time con man assembles a team to help him avenge the death of his partner in Raja Natwarlal starring Emraan Hashmi, Humaima Malik, and Paresh Rawal. Shorgul follows the tensions that crop up when a Hindu boy develops feeling for a Muslim girl, opening the door to chaos and violence.
If you like situational comedy series, check out newly added Malaysian drama Kopitiam which stars Joanna Bessey, Douglas Lim, and Lina Teoh. It has all seven series. The drama follows a young woman who returns to Malaysia to inherit her father’s coffee shop where she gains a group of kooky friends.
I only found one so far, but it’s a great drama from 2016 that you used to be able to watch on DramaFever.
Popular Chinese drama Love o2o (aka One Smile is Very Alluring) is coming to Netflix. The drama stars Zheng Shuang, Yang Yang, Mao Xia Tong, Niu Jun Feng, Zhang He, Zheng Ye Cheng, Bai Yu, and Vin Zhang. We have a girl gamer who joins forces with the ultimate gamer on the server not knowing he is closer than she thinks and the god of their department and campus. There is no link yet. I do recommend the drama. The movie adaptation with Angelababy and Jing Bo Ran wasn’t bad, either.
One thing I like is they didn’t go the total computer major being a nerdy geek route nor the rich guy flaunting his wealth to a poor girl. This is based on a novel of the same name. There is actually more content in the drama series than that which was present in the novel itself (I’ve read it).
