Coming Soon to Netflix: September 2018 Updates

I hope you have been enjoying the new Asian dramas and movies in Netflix. Here are some updates for more titles coming this month and into the beginning of October. Anything you are looking forward to?

New to Netflix

So here is what has been added that didn’t make it on my Coming Soon list. Recently added with have Indonesian film Arisan! 2 starring Cut Mini Theo, Tora Sudiro, and Surya Sputra. A group of friends reunite for a vacation amid nature where they laugh over shared history and bond over their difficult times. Inspired by true events, Nicholas Saputra, Sita Nursanti, and Lukman Sardi star in Indonesian film Gie which follows Indonesian activist Soe Hok Gie as he experiences a political awakening during the tumultuous regimes of Suharto and Sukarno. Follow two village boys who dream of traveling to Paris to study at the Sorbonne in The Dreamer (Sang Pemimpi) which stars Vikri Septiawan, Rendy Ahmad, Maudy Ayunda, and Azwir Fitrianto. This movie is adapted from a popular novel of the same name and is a sequel to Laskar Pelangi.

Looking forward to some Chinese movies?

September 24

Li Dong Xue stars as Yan Jian, a young Chinese IT engineer who volunteers to go to North Africa to help his company win a competition to own the right to control communication between south and north in China Salesman (link forthcoming). He uncovers a conspiracy where a corrupt company wishes to win at all costs for the mineral resources in Africa. Can he stop them? This movie also US action star Steven Seagal, Mike Tyson, Janicke Askevold, Li Ai, Wang Zi Jian, and Eriq Ebouaney.

September 27

Catch Li Yi Feng, Zhou Dong Yu, and Michael Douglas in Animal World (link forthcoming). This movie is based on the manga Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji by Fukumoto Nobuyuki. If you didn’t know already, there are two Japanese movies based on the same series starring Fujiwara Tatsuya in the titular role of Kaiji. Sadly, Netflix US does not have either movie available streaming. Anywho, Li Yi Feng stars as Zheng Kai Si, an aimless young man muddling his way through life borrowing money from friends incurring a huge amount of debt. To pay it off, he boards a ship to attend a mysterious gambling party that will allow all debt to be forgiven.

Yes, more Indonesian films! Raditya Dika, Annisa Rawles, and Chandra Liow star in Single (link forthcoming) about single man who is desperately searching for a girl which leads him to an unforgettable journey. In 5CM (link forthcoming), five friends decide to climb the highest peak in Java and learn the meaning of just what true friendship is.

October 1

Indian film Mundeyan Ton Bachke Rahin (link forthcoming) follows two friends who have sworn off love after heartbreaks at the age of 16. They have become serial daters devoted to breaking girls’ hearts until they both happen to fall in love with the same woman. The movie stars Roshan Prince, Jassi Gill, and Simran Kaur Mundi.
