More Thai Dramas Hit Netflix

First love, here we come! A road trip across Asia to find romance? Why not? An immigrant rising to the top of the drug underworld with the help of a notorious cop? Anything’s possible! A complex high school drama full of angst, love, misunderstandings, friendship, and more? Take a gander at what Netflix is offering in Asian dramas and movies.

A Love So Beautiful OTPHu Yi Tian, Shen Yue, and Gao Zhi Ting star in A Love So Beautiful. This Chinese web drama, based on the novel To Our Pure Little Beauty by Zhao Gangan, follows Chen Xiao Xi who has been in love with her neighbor Jiang Chen forever. He is cold and distant and loves to torment her, but when a transfer student Lu Yang falls for our diminutive beauty, can Jiang Chen realize his feelings before its too late? A journey of highs, lows, romance, friendship, and family that is definitely worth watching.

Want a less sweet teen drama? The popular Thai series Hormones has hit Netflix with two out of its 3-4 seasons (there was a movie version that came first and they expanded that into a series, kind of like Waterboyys). This drama stars up-and-coming young actors and follows the lives of Bangkok high school students as they deal with sex, love, pregnancy, violence, family turmoil, and more. It is not for the faint of heart nor for someone looking for a light drama. The plot is very complex.

Interested in exploring more from Thailand? A new addition from the Club Fridays To Be Continued franchise has arrived! In The Promise Jirayu La-ongmanee and Focus Jirakul star as a pair of lovers who vow to stay friends no matter what, but can separation and reunion change things? If you are a fan of Thai idol brothers Golf [Golf Pichaya Nitipaisankul] and Mike, you’re in luck! Golf’s Friend & Enemy, also starring Wanida Termthanaporn and Apinya Sakujaroensuk is also available. When a love triangle spirals out of control a relationship and friendship is put in danger.

Want a more mature romance? In Ainori Love Wagon: Asian Journey seven men and women board a pink bus in search of true love. The goal: to return to Japan with a significant other.

Don’t want to commit to a drama? Check out Chasing the Dragon starring action icon Donnie Yen, Andy Lau, and Philip Keung. This movie features a mainland Chinese immigrant climbing to the top of the drug underground with the help of a cop.

  • I’m surprised the Chasing the Dragon movie came out in 2017. The poster on Netflix looks like 1976. Although, maybe it’s a period piece. lol If so, they definitely captured the style.

As always, thanks for the Netflix updates!

  • More?! Yes!! Maybe I’ll finally watch this Golf drama I’ve had since it came out. I so believe he’s the better actor of the brothers!! More Club Friday?! YES!!
