DramaFever Updates 24 May 2016

There’s lots of additions being made to DramaFever as well in both dramas and variety.

In Chinese dramas, DramaFever is streaming My Amazing Boyfriend (Chinese take on My Love from another Star), the amazingly popular Bu Bu Jing Xin (under Scarlet Heart) about a modern girl whose consciousness is transported back through time to the reign of Emperor Kang Xi, and Les Interprètes (starting today) about Qiao Fei (Yang Mi) who is determined to become a French translator and who butts head with Cheng Jia Yang (Huang Xuan) her ex-boyfriend’s brother.

Bu Bu Jing Xin posterIn Korean dramas, DramaFever has added Another Oh Hae Young (starring Shinhwa’s Eric Moon, Seo Hyun Jin, Jeon Hye Bin) about two women with the same name who share a destiny with the same man (who wishes to avoid them at all costs); Dear My Friends (starring Go Hyung Jung, Shin Sung Woo) following an older generation group of friends who share their wisdom and antics with adults in their prime; and supernatural historical drama Mirror of the Witch (starring Kim Sae Ron, Yoon Si Yoon) which follows the life of an outcast young woman whose existence can destroy or save Joseon.

Keeping in the vein of fantasy, there is Bong Soon – a Cyborg in Love starring Cho Kyu Hyun of Super Junior and Yoon So Hee (Let’s Eat). It’s a cheesy web drama that’s not my cup of tea. We have a man who is a whiz programmer who falls for a woman who happens to be a cyborg designed to shut down if she falls in love. If such a plot isn’t complicated enough, check out Nam Goong Min, Oh Joo Wan, Girl’s Day’s Min Ah, and Seo Hyo Rim in Beautiful Gong Shim. Two sisters who are polar opposites meet two very different young men. Different kind of sparks fly and this drama is toted as having a Love Square. Complicated enough? No? There’s also birth secrets and other drama. I watched the first episode and so far like it.

Did you like the heavy melodrama Cinderella’s Sister? It’s leading man is back! Chun Jung Myung’s Master: God of Noodles is now streaming. Moo Myung has his identity stolen and is sent to an orphanage where he spends his time plotting revenge…which drives him to whip up culinary delights by day and exact his revenge by night. And if you love romance and volleyball…makes me think of manga Crimson Hero…then you’ll like Song Jae Rim’s latest Thumping Spike now streaming in its entirety.

In variety, Show Me the Money Season 3 is now streaming. This is the season that featured B.I and Bobby before they stopped being Team B and debuted as the rappers of iKon. I recommend watching this online. I haven’t tried on their Apple or Android apps, but this series did not work well on the Roku app. With sometimes 5-10 (maybe more) minutes to go, the videos stopped working. I really didn’t like this series, but then again, hip hop isn’t really my thing. The whole format was just weird and there really wasn’t enough time devoted to learning more about the rappers and to showcase their talent at all. Top Band Season 1 was a better non-mainstream show with a clearer format. Season 2 was rather awful…but that’s neither here nor there.

FT IslandIf you like the idol bands AOA, CNBlue, and FT Island, then you’ll like Cheongdamdong 111 which takes you inside FNC Entertainment and lets you learn a bit about all the work that comes into producing and managing idols. I guess this was partly done to help promote rookie group N.Flying. Not enough idols? Check out the Jung sisters’ show Jessica & Krystal which shows you the different sides of the Girls’ Generation and f(x) sister members.

Interested in Korean fashion and lifestyles? Check out K-Style Season 3 featuring fashion model Irene Kim, her best friend Miss A’s Min, and designer Sarah Kate Watson-Baik.
