Asian Drama Streaming Updates – September 29, 2015
It’s officially the last of September. Where has this year gone? Before I delve into the streaming updates of dramas, movies, and anime, just a quick reminder to check out the final 5-year anniversary giveaway which has a Viki Pass, Crunchyroll subscription, and Hulu gift card up for grabs! You have until Midnight, September 30 (technically October 1) to enter!
As autumn is upon us in the Midwest US, it’s only right that Crunchyroll has officially begun to announce it’s Fall Line-up! Continuing simulcasts include the anime Naruto Shippuden (season 17), One Piece, Gintama (season 3), Fairy Tail Series 2, World Trigger, Case Closed, Ace of the Diamond (season 2), Ushio and Tora, Future Card Buddyfight Hundred, Cardfight!! Vanguard G, Folktales from Japan, Milpom, and Japanese drama Ultraman X.
As for completely new simulcasts, Crunchyroll will be streaming the live action adaptation of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (The drama will follow a group of friends who gather again for the first time in seven years to fulfill the wish of a dead friend whom only one of them can see), jdrama Forget Me Not (following a loser played by Koide Keisuke as he navigates through four relationships), The Asterisk War, Beautiful Bones -Sakurako’s Investigation-, Owarimonogatari, and Teekyu 6.
In DramaFever news, the streaming site has added Big Bang’s Alive Around the World Tour (and more Big Bang related stuff is to come later, plus Infinite!), web drama Noble, My Love (about a chaebol who falls for a poor vet), Growing Through Life (Hoi Sing inherits the family business upon his father’s death but must contend with a greedy uncle), and A Moment to Remember starring Jung Woo Sung and Son Ye Jin (about a married couple forced to come to terms with the wife’s early onset of Alzheimer’s).
Ah, I almost forgot. DramaFever has also added daily KBS drama Love & Secret to its library. You can now watch the first 20 episodes there (or you can watch the entire series on KBS’s YouTube channel). KBS World is also streaming more drama specials. Recently added is In Search of Argenta about a young pole vaulter who is in a slump until famous track and field start Kang Jina comes to coach her.
Hulu adds DramaFever title Noble, My Love to its streaming library while in anime the iconic Slam Dunk is now available. Netflix has added Shootout at Lokhandwala which is based on a true story that that stunned India in the early 1990s and that is it.
Viki adds Jang Hyuk’s saeguk drama The Merchant: Gaekju 2015 (the story follows a poor peddler who works hard to become a powerful merchant) and Kim Young Kwang’s and Jung So Min’s D-Day (a natural disaster strikes Seoul and it’s up to a disaster medical team to put aside their differences and do what they can to help). Chinese drama Nirvana in Fire is also available. Hu Ge plays the son of a framed general who must fight to protect the Southern Liang Dynasty from the invading Northern Wei Dynasty. And finally comes the Taiwanese melodrama To the Dearest Intruder which is a crazy love triangle between two best friends who love one man.
