Asian Drama Streaming Updates – June 22, 2015
Here’s this week’s Asian-related streaming additions.
DramaFever has added Korean movie Twenty starring Kim Woo Bin, Lee Jun Ho (2PM), and Kang Ha Neul. All three young and rising actors. In the drama department, we have the first few episodes of Korean drama Hidden Identity ( ; Sinbuneul sumgyera) starring Kim Bum (BoF, Padam Padam), Yoon So Yi (An Angel’s Revenge), Lee Won Jong (Vampire Prosecutor), and Park Sung Woon about a team of elite cops who assume new identities to go undercover in a crime syndicate.
Netflix has added Japanese movie 009-1: The End of the Beginning starring Iwasa Mayuko, Kinomoto Minehiro, and Nagasawa Nao following a cold-hearted cyborg killing machine who sets out rescue her creator and stop a human trafficking ring; Gori Tere Pyaar Mein starring Imran Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Anumpam Kher about a man who is only concerned with lavishly spending money until he meets a beautiful activist and attempts to become worthy of her; Revolver Rani which is about a trigger-happy woman who takes on thugs who plan to murder and kidnap a political star; Ugly a story about a young girl who goes missing while her actor father is at an audition. Her stepfather, the police chief of Mumbai, steps in to find her.
While not an Asian drama, Netflix does have their series Sense8 which does star quite a few Korean actors you may recognize from your drama and movie binging. I recommend checking it out as it is a very interesting watch. No other dramas have been added. They seem to be having more of a Spanish telenovela explosion more than anything else.
Gah. Crunchyroll has added the Digimon series to its streaming library! One of my all-time favorite animes that I used to watch on Fox Kids when Fox Kids was still good. They have also added 2006 medical drama Dr. Koto’s Clinic.
That’s it for this edition. Stay tuned next week for more streaming updates. Any other legal websites and additions I’ve missed?
