30 Day Asian Music Challenge Day 12
Just because I was curious… I’m doing a variation on one of the #12 questions from one of the 30 Day Asian Music Challenge lists.
Day 12: What are the top 25 songs played on your music library & iPod?
I was actually surprised that an Asian song ISN’T number 1. I have a large music collection, so I just put my music on shuffle. Oh, sure, on occasion, I’ll seek songs out that I want to listen to, but I tend to be too lazy to do that often. So…here is the top 25 regardless of genre/country and based on whatever methods iTunes uses for randomizing songs. For the second list, The top 25 Asian songs only, notice…LOTS of songs by Alice Nine (Japanese visual kei band). I find that fitting as they are probably the first Asian artists that I started listening to in earnest.

iPod
This will have more Asian music in the top 25 because that’s nearly all of what my library is composed of. Actually, the top 25 lists on my iPod surprise me. But then again, it’s been reset, had the library drastically changed several times…so maybe not the most accurate count. Just like my poor music library on my PC and the 3 computers I’ve went through and trying to get all my music collection back in one place again. I really need to upgrade to the next generation iPod with more storage. WHY can’t Apple offer expandable storage in the form of SD cards?

If I don’t hear it on an OST, I’ve never heard it before; otherwise, I prefer the music before 90’s. I know, you never heard 1/2 of them!
Yeah, OSTs. I really love the music played in dramas. Thanks to my aunt who was a 70s/80s child, I grew up on a healthy dose of rock music from the 70s and 80s and thanks to being raised by my grandparents, I know a lot of country music from the 40s to now. It wasn’t until high school that I was introduced to this stuff called pop music and it wasn’t until college and later that I really fell in love with Asian music.
If you were to ask me about the artists popular in the US today…not sure I could tell you who they are or what they sing. I don’t listen to much American music beyond country (or my 80s rock).
