30 Day Asian Drama Challenge – Day 16

Oddly  enough…I can choose one that stands above the rest believe it or not!

Day 16: Your favorite actress?

It’s kind of funny because you would think as a female, I could easily pick a favorite actor a lot quicker than picking a favorite actress. I, however, love being different. I can easily pinpoint a favorite actress a lot quicker than a favorite actor right now. Before heading off to my all-time favorite actress to date, here are some of the actresses I like the best:

Japan

Shinohara Ryoko, Aibu Saki, Ishihara Satomi, Oomasa Aya, Eikura Nana, Ito Misaki, Wakui Emi, Kitagawa Keiko, Kawaguchi Haruna, Fukuda Saki, Tabe Mikako, Inoue Mao

Korea

Kim Yoo Jung, Park Sun Young, Han Hyo Joo, Moon Chae Won, Bang Hyo Jung, Oh Ji Eun, Do Ji Won, Lee Bo Hee, Bae Doo Na, Jang Nara

China/Taiwan

Ella Chen, Yang Mi, Liu Shi Shi, Rainie Yang, Maggie Wu, Ady An, Michelle Yeoh, Barbie Hsu

And the #1 actress in my heart?

Ivy ChenIvy Chen!!! She is so versatile and fun-loving and she portrays her various characters and personalities well. I totally fell in love with her thanks to the Taiwanese take on the Japanese manga Skip Beat! But all you need to do is check out all her other dramas and movies to see her awesome skills and versatile range.

  • For me, I like (and when I say like, I look for the new dramas their in and watch them, regardless):

Korea: Bae Doo Na, Jang Nara, (we like the same two), Kim Sun Ah, Lee Shi Young, Kim Soo Mi, Ha Ji Won, Jung Ryeo-Won, Choi Ha Na, Lee Mi Young, Jung Soo Young.

China/Taiwan: Ruby Lin (I think I respect her more than like her because I’ve only seen her in one drama so far.)

Japan: Oomasa Aya, Miki Honoka <== my new favorite.

For some reason I can only name a handful of people from China/Taiwan and Japan. I don't actually have anyone who has made any impact on me.

  • Yeaaaaa Ivy Chen! Just goes to show how amazing she is when TWO asian drama blogs choose her 😛

  • Ermm usually I’m not too fond with the actresses mainly because women have a shorter career and after 35 their roles tend to be mother, monster-in-law or family dramas that usually I don’t watch. Or they hardly get some interesting roles like Do Ji Won ( a late bloomer – after Three Brother the things got interesting for her) , Park Sun Young or Oh Yoon Ah (33) she is already in ahjummonish roles even though she is that young but being married in klala land has its downsides.
There are a few exceptions like Kim Sun Ah, Ko Hyun Jung that command the screen and the scriptwriters when their character goes down the drain, I remember that Ko Hyun Jung accepted the Grand Prize for Daemul just to publicly tell the scriptwriters and MBC staff that she won’t take a crap instead of a good character.

1ShIn MIn Ah is the winner. I love her movies more than her dramas, yet in Arang or Gumiho she was the titular char and the winner for me. She makes people like Lee Seung Ki, Lee Jun Ki or Jo In Sung to look like they have no chance but love her

    2. Jung So Min – I finished only Can we get married but I die when I see JSM on screen. I want her to act more.

3 Sohn Ye Jin – In Personal taste I invested only in her char, but Lee Min Hot looked hot, but in The Tower I trembled with fear along her char.

4 Lee SI Young – her persona is awesome.

    5 Hwang Jung Eum

I watch Kim Sun Ah, but I dropped IDID the story of “Cinderell” was very good only on paper.
Ko Hyun Jung is awesome if the story is on my taste.
Park Min Young – I love her more than Lee Min Ho. When their scandal break I was sure they will separate. She needs a pristine image because klala land doesn’t like its women married, but virgins and fertile ( it is a Greek philosophy about their Goddesses – but the concept is very real in Japan and Korea when it comes about their celebs)
Kim Ha Neul I respect her and her projects are awesome. I just need to get over her overacted scenes.

Han Ga In everyone tells that she is bad actress, however it gets on my nerves when she is really made to look that way. See MoonSun.
Park Shin Hye must saved and entire Continent in her previous life, because she has awesome male leads. Even more where Jang Geun Seuk flopped she prevailed.

    Japan
Takeuchi Yuko In my eyes she is flawless. ( I want to see Strawberry night the movie)
Yonekura Ryoko: the woman looks terrible with her visible plastic surgery but every time she is on my screen commands me to stay glued there until the ned of the show. She is vulnerable and fierce in the same time in Negotiator, cruel and winner in Doctor X,
Ayase Haruka – smart choices when it comes about her projects, but her face annoys me to no limits. She is a good actress therefore her projects are a must watch for me. I don’t know how she does it but her leading men are the most sexy guys in Japan.
    I follow the projects of
Kuroki Meisa – . Btw Fujiki Naohito lost her too in Shiawase ni Narou yo (Dun Dun Last Cinderella)
    Nagasawa Masami –
Tabe Mikako I have a love hate relationship with her, but she is cute.
Ito Ono – she gets projects that I Like
    Fukuda Saki and Gouriki Ayame
    Karina I love her face
Oomansa Aya I like her charisma and Honda Tsubasa tends to be a little washed on-screen

China Zhao Vicki- I want her to act a little more. She is quite old now and don’t know if she will look this good 5 years from now.

  • The first thing I saw Moon Chae Won in was Nice Guy, and i really didn’t like her in that, but then I saw Shining Inheritance, which made me like her a bit more. There’s something about her that just doesn’t endear me to her though, but i don’t know what it is.

    • I wasn’t too thrilled with her vicious beginning in Nice Guy, but she is a decent actress and I look forward to seeing more of her. Although…she tends to play characters that I dislike 😛

  • Ha Ji-won! This is who first comes to mind. Am like other actresses, as well, but short on time and she is at the top of the list.
